| The
third volume of War Speeches, containing speeches Churchill
made in 1942, was published by Cassell in 1942. The
War news at least seemed better in 1942. Churchill summed
it up "This is not the end; it is not even the
beginning of the end, but it is, perhaps, the end of
the beginning", thus providing the title THE END
OF THE BEGINNING. It follows the series binding in pale
blue cloth, with a similar dustwrapper of brown blending
to black. The first
edition was followed by three later
printings
The first
American edition was
similar to the previous volume, but slightly shorter.
The
Canadian first edition
continued the series binding and jacket style. The Australian
first edition now had a dustwrapper style
very similar to the British, but the binding was red
cloth, rather than the pale blue of the English.
