| The
first volume of post war speeches was entitled THE SINEWS
OF PEACE, and printed speeches made in late 1945 and
1946. The title is that of the famous Iron Curtain speech.
The
first edition of 10,000 copies by Cassell
was published 1948. There were no later printings of
this or any of the other post war speeches. Sized to
match the war speeches, the book was bound in an orange
brown cloth, with a predominantly black dustwrapper.
Printed on better paper than the war speeches, this
book ages well and has reasonable supply. The American
edition was published by Houghton Mifflin
in 1949, but only 3000 copies. Binding is pale blue
stamped in dark blue, with a blue/green dustwrapper.
For such a small print run, this edition is probably
underpriced at present.
