Scribner’s (Scribners), NY, 1933-1938, 1st American edition, Produced in 6 volumes rather than 4 as the British edition. Scribners chose to split the first two volumes into two books each, but then the final two volumes were not so divided, making a total of six. The setting, illustrations, and maps are identical to the English 4 volume work. Bound in emerald green cloth, gilt titles on spines. Books are clean and tight, clear bright gilt titles, slightly less so on vol. V as is usual. Bookplates in vols 1,3,4. A few minor marks on sopme of the covers, contents clean. (A40b). Item #24981
