Longman’s Green & Co., New York, 1900, 1st edition. hardcover. Churchill’s only book length novel, written in 1899, published in 1900. The American edition was published prior to the English. Bound in dark blue cloth, gilt on cover and spine. 345 pages plus Longmans New York catalogue at rear. Original cloth is good unfaded olour with bright gilt, some unobtrusive damp damage at dase of back joint. There are some marks on the back cover, but not that noticeable.. The endpapers appear to have been repaired or replaced at some point, but foxing inicates that it was long ago. Owner inscription on half title. Contents seem clean, I did see two minor marks and a crease within the text. Despite this list of minor faults, this book has excellent shelf appearance and is a good value for this scarce edition.
