Houghton Mifflin, Boston, 1953, hardcover. This collected edition of Churchill’s war speeches has much to recommend it. There are five additional speeches lacking from the wartime volumes, and there is now an index, a most helpful addition. the production standard is far higher. This American edition was produced from 500 sets of English sets sent over. With such an incredibly small issue, and most sets sold to Libraries, thus has become a minor modern rarity. Less attractive than the English, they are bound in black spines over red cloth sides with gilt stamping on the spines only. Books are tight and unworn, edges even, seem unread. Gilt is not bright, but as good as normally seen on this title. Top oage edges are even yellow, no names or inscriptions. NO dj's. (ICS A136b). Item #30364
