Gilt titles on spine and front cover, black endpapers. 409 pages, 32 page publishers catalogue at rear. Frontis portrait of Gen. Ian Hamilton, folding map at rear, 9 other maps and plans in text. 5000 copies published, half that of London to Ladysmith. Original cloth has good colour, spine unfaded, some faint marks on front cover. Original black endpoapers intact, publishers catalog dated 7/00 bound in at rear. There is a blue (ink?) stain affecting the lower edge of the front endpaper and the half title page. Foxing in the early pages, but then contents are clean. (A5). Item #34762
