The Great War is actually an abridged and heavily illustrated version of The World Crisis, which was originally issued as 26 fortnightly parts or magazines. Most copies were later bound in binding cases available from the publishers. The most popular is bound in this smooth cloth of royal blue with elaborate gilt and blind stamping featuring an exploding globe motif on the spines. Printed on quality coated paper, the 1668 pages in total make 3 very heavy volumes, weighing a total of over 12 pounds ( 5.5 kg). Books all very clean with shiny gilt sta,ping on spines.Bindings tight, page edges decorated with red sprinkles. Vol. I has a vertical wrinkle in spine.
