Technical Services: Ordnance and IEME

Combined Interservices Historical Section, 1962, hardcover. OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE INDIAN ARMED FORCES IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939-45. This series was under the editorship of Bisheshwar Prasad and published by the Combined Inter-services Historical Section (India and Pakistan). There were a total of 24 volumes published in 4 sub-series: General War Administration and Organisation; Campaigns in the Eastern Theatre; Campaigns in the Western Theatre; Medical Series. The editorial standard was high, with considerable detail backed up by extensive charts, tables, and appendices. The production standard is unfortunately low, reflecting the materials available in India. The bindings are of low quality, with gilt often dull and indistinct, with dustwrappers of cheap pale blue paper. The cloth is dark blue on all but the medicals which are dark red. Fine copies in most cases did not exist even when new, and the damp Indian climate is notorious for destroying books. In most cases, authors of individual volumes are not identified. This volume discusses the Ordnance Corps and the Corps of Indian Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. 479 pages, maps some folding, photos, tanles. This copy unworn and clean, gilt very bright in dustwrapper with edgewear and faded spine.`. Item #M1214
